About Me

I lived in South Berwick, ME in the early 70’s and eventually moved 10″ to New Hampshire where we stayed until 1985. I followed my parents to California at 17 years of age because my mom wanted to be closer to my brothers. (That’s not what THEY wanted, to give you an idea of our family dynamics) There I floundered until 2017 when I bravely decided it was time to get out of this armpit of a state and move back to the stunning beauty of New England. California was too expensive, too hot, too crowded and too monochromatic. If only I could’ve brought the few friends I had and my one little brother.

It took me 3 years to finally MAKE said move and those 3 years were difficult. A lot of procrastinating, pros & cons lists, crying, dreaming, flip-flopping and…well, you get the idea. In 2020, I got serious because the house next to me sold for an unbelievable amount and my house was bigger and better; but, it did need about 17,883 things done before marketing. I did most of the work myself, because I am NOT an asker of help. (With the exception of an old booty-call buddy who helped me exponentially) I painted walls, trim, porch, eaves…rejuvenated hardwood floors, landscaped, cleaned windows, walls, closets, roof, driveway, garage door, fireplace…oy…I’m tired just typing this.

BUT…finally, the reward: my house sold in late July.

Three weeks to road trip…

Now the REAL whirlwind began. I packed, dumped, prepared, planned routes, and fell off a ladder at 6′ breaking my collar bone. Last “To Do” item was to buy a new(er) car. I had donated my old, tired; but, faithful 1996 Toyota Avalon XLS to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, skipped over to Enterprise Car Sales, picked out an SUV, came home, packed it up – mostly for my two pitties – slept 2 hours and hit the road at 7am. (I’d be a good Reader’s Digest writer, don’t you think? SUCCINCT!)

I love DIY’ing. I super wish I had began this love affair in my late 30’s? Or even my early 40’s? But no…I started in my super-late 40’s. Yadda, yadda, yadda….this is why I started this blog. To show that it’s never too late do anything you really want to do.

Here’s to a fucking AWESOME new beginning…
